Mobile, Ala. - The Generals could not finish off a sweep of the Mobile BayBears, as the Generals were downed 4-0 in the series finale at Hank Aaron Stadium Sunday afternoon. Despite the shutout defeat, the Generals will take the best record in the Southern League into a ten-game homestand that starts Monday.
The game remained tight until the seventh inning, when the BayBears rallied for three runs off of
Jackson (19-10) was held to just four hits on offense by a trio of Mobile pitchers. Jake Jewel (1-1, 6.43) picked up his first Double-A victory behind six scoreless innings. The right-hander allowed just three singles while striking out six without a walk.
The Generals left nine men on base, going 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position one night after scoring 10 runs on four long balls. Jackson had men on in seven of nine innings, but could not push a run across in the finale.
Despite the loss, Jackson remains atop the North Division with the best record in the Southern League. The Generals went 8-2 over ten early games in Mobile and are 12-3 on the road overall this season.
