Mobile, Ala. - The Generals could not finish off a sweep of the Mobile BayBears, as the Generals were downed 4-0 in the series finale at Hank Aaron Stadium Sunday afternoon. Despite the shutout defeat, the Generals will take the best record in the Southern League into a ten-game homestand that starts Monday.
Brooks Hall (1-2, 5.00) took the loss for the Generals despite allowing just an unearned run over six innings. Mobile (12-18) scored their only run versus Jackson's starterin the fifth inning. After Zach Welz walked, he made it to third base on a throwing error by catcher Oscar Hernández on a pickoff throw. The very next pitch from Hall was wild, allowing Welz to score as the BayBears went up 1-0. That was all Mobile mustered versus Jackson's starter.

The game remained tight until the seventh inning, when the BayBears rallied for three runs off of Yuhei Nakaushiro. With two outs and two on, Forrestt Allday singled home a pair before coming home on a Zach Houchins double to make it 4-0.
Jackson (19-10) was held to just four hits on offense by a trio of Mobile pitchers. Jake Jewel (1-1, 6.43) picked up his first Double-A victory behind six scoreless innings. The right-hander allowed just three singles while striking out six without a walk. Justin Anderson pitched two innings behind Jewell before Justin Karch finished the game off with a scoreless ninth.
The Generals left nine men on base, going 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position one night after scoring 10 runs on four long balls. Jackson had men on in seven of nine innings, but could not push a run across in the finale.
Despite the loss, Jackson remains atop the North Division with the best record in the Southern League. The Generals went 8-2 over ten early games in Mobile and are 12-3 on the road overall this season.
