August 24, 2018

Ever since his conversion from the bullpen to a starting pitcher, Jesus Cruz has been a solid addition to the Palm Beach rotation. Friday night vs. Jupiter was no exception as he improved his season record to 6-0 after a 2-0 victory. After being recalled to Palm Beach on July 12th

Ever since his conversion from the bullpen to a starting pitcher, Jesus Cruz has been a solid addition to the Palm Beach rotation. Friday night vs. Jupiter was no exception as he improved his season record to 6-0 after a 2-0 victory.
After being recalled to Palm Beach on July 12th when he made his first start at the Advanced-A level, Cruz has been dominant. The Mexican native is 5-0 in his last nine starts, throwing 47 2/3 innings and striking out 56.
Cruz got two runs of support in the bottom of the third inning. Conner Capel hit an RBI single and Elehuris Montero would bring home another run with an RBI groundout. It was the only support he would get, but the only support he would need. Cruz ultimately went six scoreless innings, allowing two hits, two walks while striking out two.
Out of the bullpen, Austin Sexton and Will Latcham threw scoreless innings surrendering one hit each.
Bryan Dobzanski earned his fourth save of the season after throwing a perfect ninth frame. It lowered his season ERA to a minuscule 0.64 through 13 innings.
Palm Beach reached the 70th win plateau for the ninth time in team history and for the fourth time in the last nine years.
The teams will face off again tomorrow at 5:30 PM from Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
