JOHNSON CITY CARDINALS BREAK SINGLE-GAME ATTENDANCE RECORD ON BACK TO BACK NIGHTS

JOHNSON CITY, TN The Cardinals hosted the Greeneville Reds on Tuesday night in front of another record-breaking crowd at TVA Credit Union Ballpark as a crowd of 3,947 was in attendance. 3,947 fans on Tuesday night marks the second straight game that the Cardinals have broken the single-game attendance record as the team set the previous record on Monday night with 3,687 fans.
 
"We can't thank this community enough for giving us back to back record nights here at TVA Credit Union Ballpark," stated Johnson City Cardinals General Manager Zac Clark. "When we got to work this off-season, we knew this year would be special but the support this community has shown us has completely blown us away. Thank you, Johnson City for your unwavering support! We can't wait to get back here next Saturday night and make a push to break 4,000!"
The Cardinals looked to get above .500 for the first time this season, but due to big innings early from the Reds, the Cardinals fall 8-2 in the finale.
Dionis Zamora got the start for the Cardinals, his second since being promoted from the GCL Cardinals on 6/24. The Reds got to Zamora early, scoring in the top of the first on a three-run homerun and a wild pitch from Zamora. After the top of the first, the Reds had a 4-0 lead.
Josiah Gray got the start for the Reds, he shut down the Cardinals' offense for five innings, giving up only a walk and striking out five. The Reds took a no-hitter to the top of the sixth, when reliever AJ Moore surrendered a single to Jonatan Machado. The Cardinals, however wouldn't get a run until the bottom of the seventh when they scored two on a groundout by Sanel Rosendo that allowed Gorman to score and then an error that allowed Dariel Gomez to score.
The scoring would stop there for the Cardinals, but the Reds managed to add one more in the top of the ninth and the game would end 8-2. 
Dionis Zamora would go 4.1 innings, surrendering nine hits, seven earned runs, but he did strikeout five hitters. The game went to the bullpen, Enrique Perez and Colin Schmid were the two pitchers used in relief.
Enrique Perez threw 1.2 innings, only gave up one hit and got a strikeout. Colin Schmid went three innings, giving up two hits and an earned run, but he also had five strikeouts.
Johnson City goes on the road to Bristol until Saturday and then return home on Saturday, July 7th for a seven game homestand. Saturday is "We Back Pat Night" where the Cardinals will wear UT themed jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit he Pat Summitt Foundation.
