PASCO, WA: Jimmy Joyce struck out a career high 13 batters over 5.2 shutout innings and Noelvi Marte drove in three runs as the Everett AquaSox (10-8) defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils (7-11), 6-2.
Marte led off the game with a home run over the left field wall, his 14th of the season. The score remained 1-0 until the fifth inning when Marte, Mike Salvatore and Dariel Gomez each contributed RBI singles to give the Sox a 4-0 lead.
Marte added his fourth base hit and third RBI of the game in the sixth inning with another single that drove in Lavey for a 5-0 score. The AquaSox added their final run of the game in the seventh inning when Dust Devils pitcher Emilker Guzman balked home Alberto Rodriguez to increase the lead to 6-0.
Tri-City did get on the board in the seventh inning when Jose Guzman scored on a D'Shawn Knowles sacrifice fly followed by a Mike Peabody RBI single that drove in Osmy Gregorio to pull the Dust Devils within 6-2. AquaSox relievers Max Roberts and Peyton Alford each threw one shutout inning to close out the victory for Everett.
Joyce threw 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing only three hits, two walks and 13 strikeouts. It was Joyce's second consecutive start in which he didn't allow an earned run. Joyce's combined numbers in those two starts: 10.2 innings, four hits, six walks and 20 strikeouts. Roberts ran his streak of scoreless appearances to six straight, going 8.2 innings, six hits and 16 strikeouts. Marte's final numbers on the night: 4-5, a home run, two runs and three RBI. Lavey ended the night 2-4, two runs and a stolen base.

Game four of the six game series is scheduled for Friday July 15. RHP Juan Mercedes (3-5, 4.14 ERA) will start for the AquaSox while LHP Jose Salvador (1-4, 7.83 ERA) will start for the Dust Devils. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with the pregame show beginning at 6:45 p.m. Tune in to 1380 AM/95.3 FM KRKO for all of the action.
