JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Edward Cabrera notched seven strikeouts and Troy Johnston lashed an RBI double to extend his on-base streak to 30 games en route to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp’s 2-1 win over the Charlotte Knights Thursday night at 121 Financial Ballpark.

Charlotte (46-82, 11-42) took the first lead of the game in the top of the fourth. Victor Reyes led off with a single and went to third on Seby Zavala’s base knock in the ensuing at-bat. With runners at the corners, a wild pitch plated the opening run of the game.

The Jumbo Shrimp (62-65, 30-23) responded right away in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Jacob Amaya drew a walk off Knights starter Nick Nastrini (0-1) and then scored on Johnston’s double, pushing his on-base streak to 30 straight games, the longest for a Jacksonville hitter since at least 2010. Johnston went to third on the throw home and then scored the go-ahead run on Jorge Alfaro’s sacrifice fly.

Cabrera (W, 3-1) ceded just one run on four hits in 5.0 innings to earn the win. Austin Roberts tossed a scoreless sixth inning and José Castillo pitched 1.2 shutout frames. Anthony Maldonado (S, 8) retired all four batters he faced to earn his eighth save.
