The Jupiter Hammerheads drop the series opener to the Lakeland Flying Tigers and get eliminated from the 2022 playoffs on Tuesday at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The Hammerheads lost 4-2, while a Palm Beach win in Dunedin clinched the final playoff berth for the RDCS neighbors.

For the Hammerheads, the offense scored a pair of runs in the third to take a 2-0 lead. A triple from Tanner Allen scored Jorge Caballero at first base. Allen would then come around to score on a Yiddi Cappe single.

The Hammerheads' lead would slowly disappear after a Lakeland run in the fifth, two more in the sixth, and a final run in the seventh.

At the plate, Cappe had a strong night finishing 3-4 with an RBI. Allen also finished with a multi-hit night going 2-4 with a triple and an RBI.

Holt Jones started for the Hammerheads and pitched five innings. The former Kentucky Wildcat allowed just two hits and struck out six batters for the night.

In relief, Jupiter turned to Cole Kirschsieper and Manuel Medina. Kirschsieper, the recent 12th-round selection from the Marlins, pitched an inning. Medina, who now has a 0.87 ERA, worked the final three frames of the game.

The two clubs will be back in action on Wednesday at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Gates will open at 5:30 PM for the 6:30 PM first pitch.
