Reading Fightin Phils second baseman Scott Kingery has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of May 15th-May 21st. The 23-year old hit .300 (9-for-30) with one double, five home runs, six RBIs, nine runs scored, one stolen base, one walk, and a .833 slugging percentage in six games for the Fightins last week. Kingery, who is a native of Phoenix, Arizona, reached base in all six games that he played in last week and had multiple hits in three of those games, including a pair of two-homer performances on May 19th and May 21st against New Hampshire. The 5'10", 180 lb. slugger led all Eastern League players in home runs (5), runs scored (9), and total bases (25) last week and tied for the league lead in extra-base hits (6). He also ranked among the weekly leaders in hits (9-tied 3rd), slugging percentage (.833-5th), RBIs (6-tied 6th), stolen bases (1-tied 6th), and OPS (1.177-10th). Kingery is hitting .289 with a league-best totals of 13 home runs and 40 runs scored in 37 games for the Fightins this season. Scott, who is rated by MLB.com as the 11th best prospect in the Philadelphia organization, was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the second round of the 2015 draft out of the University of Arizona.

Yefry Ramírez, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Trenton Thunder, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 15th-May 21st. The 6'2", 215 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the Thunder last week and had a record of 1-1 with 15 strikeouts and a 2.08 ERA. Ramirez, who is a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, made his first start of the week on Tuesday at New Hampshire and pitched seven strong innings to earn the win in Trenton's 4-2 victory. He struck out seven batters and walked two while giving up two runs on two hits. Yefry made his second start on Sunday against the visiting Portland Sea Dogs and took the loss despite giving up just one run over six innings in Portland's 1-0 victory. He struck out eight and walked two while scattering four hits in six innings. The 23-year old led all Eastern League pitchers in strikeouts (15) last week and also ranked among the weekly leaders in innings pitched (13.0-tied 2nd), wins (1-tied 3rd), batting average against (.136-4th), and WHIP (0.77-6th). Yefry was selected by the New York Yankees from the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft on December 10th, 2015. He was originally signed by Arizona as a non-drafted free agent on January 25, 2011.
