2018 Knights Radio & TV Broadcast Schedule

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- With Opening Knight at BB&T Ballpark exactly one month away from today (April 12th), the Charlotte Knights are pleased to announce their radio and TV broadcast schedule for the 2018 season. On radio, 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte will continue to serve as the team's flagship station for all 140 regular season games, while NBC Sports Chicago & My12 WMYT will return to carry select games on television in 2018. The team's first radio and TV (NBC Sports Chicago) broadcast will take place on Monday, March 26th when the Knights host the Chicago White Sox in an exhibition game at BB&T Ballpark.
Matt Swierad, the "Voice of the Charlotte Knights", will return to the airwaves for his 21st season behind the microphone with the team. Last season, the Knights renamed their home radio broadcast booth at BB&T Ballpark to the "Matt Swierad Home Radio Booth". Swierad began calling games for the Knights in 1998 and is set to call his 3,000 game for the franchise later this year. The Rhode Island native will once again handle all home and road games again this season.
Joining Swierad in the radio booth for all 70 home games will once again be long-time broadcaster Mike Pacheco, who returns for his 14th season with the Knights. Pacheco, who will continue to host the team's Pre-Game Show at BB&T Ballpark, will also accompany Swierad on select NBC Sports Chicago games and all My12 WMYT games again this season. The duo have called games together for the Knights since 2005.
Back by popular demand, the Knights and NBC Sports Chicago will continue their partnership for a second consecutive season. In total, the Knights will broadcast 17 games from BB&T Ballpark on NBC Sports Chicago this season, including the 2018 exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox. Additionally, the Knights will once again broadcast all Saturday home games (11 total) locally on My12 WMYT.
Swierad will handle play-by-play duties for all TV games, while a rotation of Pacheco, Loren Hibbs, and Jeff McCarragher, will accompany him in the broadcast booth for select games. Hibbs, who was recently inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame, returns for his third season in the TV booth. Hibbs is currently in his 26th season as the head baseball coach for the Charlotte 49ers. McCarragher, a veteran play-by-play broadcaster, returns for his second consecutive season in the TV booth with the Knights. Most recently, McCarragher has spent time handling play-by-play duties with the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) along with college football and basketball play-by-play for the American Sports Network and the Colonial Athletic Association.

The 2018 season at BB&T Ballpark gets underway on Thursday, April 12th as the Knights host "Opening Knight" against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at 7:04 p.m. Single-game tickets for the 2018 season, as well as season memberships, and Ten-Game Experiences, are on sale now. The Knights will also host their parent club, the Chicago White Sox, in an exhibition game on Monday, March 26th.
