(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) – Right fielder Blake Rutherford had a career day at the plate and the Charlotte Knights beat the team with the most wins in Triple-A Baseball this season. Rutherford launched two home runs and helped lead the Knights past the Durham Bulls by a score of 9-2

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) – Right fielder Blake Rutherford had a career day at the plate and the Charlotte Knights beat the team with the most wins in Triple-A Baseball this season.

Rutherford launched two home runs and helped lead the Knights past the Durham Bulls by a score of 9-2 from Truist Field in game three of the six-game series on Thursday night. The Knights pounded out 10 hits on the night en route to a commanding win over Durham.

Rutherford finished the night going 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored, a double, two home runs and five RBIs. His 26 doubles this season are now tied for the most in the league this season. His two-homer game was the first of his career.

Second baseman Romy González continued his solid start with the Knights and homered in the second inning of Thursday’s game. Gonzalez hit a two-run shot, his third with the Knights since being promoted from Double-A Birmingham on Friday August 20. He’s hitting .421 in five games with the Knights this year.

LHP Kyle Kubat (2-0, 4.11) earned the win out of Charlotte’s bullpen. Kubat allowed one run on two hits over three innings. RHP Will Carter started the game and gave up one run over two innings. Chicago White Sox RHP Evan Marshall struck-out two batters over a scoreless inning in his first major league rehab appearance with the Knights this year.

The Knights improved to 5-4 on the 12-game homestand, which continues on Saturday from Truist Field with a day/night doubleheader. The Knights and Bulls will play game one at 1:05 p.m. and later play game two at 7:04 p.m. A separate ticket is needed to attend each game.
