The 26-year-old made two starts last week, going 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA, 20 strikeouts and two walks. McGowin started against Erie on May 22 and tossed seven shutout and two-hit innings while striking out a career-high 10 and walking one. He became the first Senators pitcher to strike out 10 or more in a game since
The right-hander started again on May 27 against Altoona and allowed two runs across six innings while tying his career-high with 10 strikeouts and walking one.
McGowin led all Eastern League pitchers in strikeouts (20) and tied for the lead in wins (2) during the week. He also was tied for third in innings pitched (13.0), 10th in ERA (1.38), 10th in WHIP (0.77), and 10th in batting average against (.174).
Kyle, who has a record of 2-0 with a 2.89 ERA across three starts with the Senators this season, his second with the club, was acquired by the Washington Nationals from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for infielder
