In the first home game of 2022, the Lake Elsinore Storm lost to the Visalia Rawhide by a score of 10-3. The poor play began early as the Storm surrendered 3 runs in the opening frame. They would tack on a run of their own after a double steal brought home Max Ferguson in the bottom of the first.
After working hard to manufacture that run, the Storm were unable to put another run on the board for the rest of the night. In comparison, the Rawhide scored 2 or more runs in 4 of 9 innings, tallying 16 hits.
The lone bright spots for the Storm came from Levi Thomas who pitched 2.2 frames while striking out 6 batters while only giving up 2 runs. 30 year old, Matt Swilley, making a comeback into the baseball world also impressed pitching 1 inning of scoreless baseball while striking out 2. The rest of Storm pitching struggled throughout the night much like their Big Leauge counterparts.
The Storm offense also was without power as they managed only 7 hits.
The team looks to bounce back tomorrow from tonight's performance on Woof Wednesday!
