The Rainiers emerged from a back-and-forth first two innings with a slim 4-3 lead before building on their advantage in the middle innings. Tacoma scored twice in the fifth and three more times in the top of the sixth to create a 9-3 margin.
However, Fresno would go on to score 10 runs over five-run frames in the bottom of the sixth and seventh, propelling the hosts out to a 13-9 lead. The Grizzlies swatted eight base hits and took advantage of three Rainiers errors over those two frames to move out in front. Of the 10 unanswered runs scored by Fresno, only two were earned.
