Late rally propels Barons over M-Braves

PEARL, MS -- The Mississippi Braves (22-44, 56-80) scored two runs to tie the game in the sixth but the Birmingham Barons (27-40, 53-83) fought back to plate a run in the eighth and claim a 3-2 victory in game three of the final series of the season Saturday night at Trustmark Park. 
Despite a good outing from starter Tyler Pike, who went six innings, the M-Braves were unable to take advantage of baserunners. Pike was touched for two runs on just four hits in his start, recording two walks and seven strikeouts against the Barons. The lefty was sharper than he has been this year for Mississippi, limiting his walks and pitches-per-inning to record a near-quality start to end the season. 
But the Barons were still able to get to Pike, scoring two runs off the starter in the second inning, utilizing two walks and two singles to take the lead. Out of the bullpen, Mauricio Cabrera delivered a scoreless seventh inning before giving way to Josh Graham. Graham pitched the eighth and ninth, allowing a run on three hits in the eighth to give the Barons the lead.

Offensively, Mississippi collected nine hits but stranded nine men on base. Austin Riley collected three hits, including a triple, and scored a run. Joey Meneses and Alex Jackson each added two hits in the loss. 
Mississippi scored both of their runs in the sixth off starter Alec Hansen, using three hits and two walks to tie the game. But the M-Braves left the bases loaded in the sixth against reliever Jace Fry. In the seventh, Dylan Moore was thrown out at the plate trying to score.
