The IronPigs scored again in the top of the fifth inning as Cowgill walked and then scored from first on a throwing error by Higashioka. After five scoreless innings, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre pushed another run across in the bottom of the eighth when Austin clobbered a solo home run.
In the bottom of the ninth, Caldwell singled with one out. Wade walked with two outs, and Mark Payton smoked a triple down the right-field line to bring home both runners and cut the RailRiders deficit in half. Drury then grounded out to third to end the game and his six-game on-base streak.
For the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Wade was perfect at the plate going one-for-one and walking four times.
The RailRiders homestand with Lehigh Valley will continue on Wednesday night at PNC Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. LHP
