(www.saraperos.com.mx / Fernando Valdés) viernes 2 de febrero.- El panameño Lenin Picota es el nuevo manager de los Saraperos de Saltillo, tiene experiencia como dirigente en Panamá y Nicaragua, además de ser cuerpo técnico de su país en los Clásicos Mundiales de Béisbol de 2009 y 2012, ahora viene a encabezar la novena verde en la temporada 2018 de la Liga Mexicana de Béisbol.
Viene de lograr el Bicampeonato de la Serie Latinoamericana de Beisbol al frente de los Tigres de Chinandega, representante de Nicaragua, lo hizo de manera invicta, el año pasado dirigió en ese país a Frankie de la Cruz, luego de alzarse como monarcas en la liga de aquel país, cuenta además con amplia experiencia en el rey de los deportes, pues como lanzador jugó 24 años, 9 de ellos en Estados Unidos, 5 campañas en Taiwán, 2 temporadas en Korea, 5 años en México y Ligas Invernales en Centroamérica.
Lenin Picota Tenorio, cuenta con 51 años de edad, nació en Panamá, pero conoce el béisbol mexicano, pues tuvo oportunidad de lanzar en la Liga Mexicana de Béisbol en 1996 con los Guerreros de Oaxaca, a donde regresó en 1999, en 2000 Algodoneros del Unión Laguna, con Leones de Yucatán en 2004 y Rieleros de Aguascalientes en 2007, dejando cifras de 22-20 en 94 juegos, 51 como abridor, 363 innings y 229 ponches.
"En 24 años como lanzador profesional, aprendí las capacidades de cada lanzador para desarrollarlas al máximo, saber cuándo es hora de cambiar a un pitcher por fatiga y proteger al bullpen de manera que se dosifiquen durante una temporada larga, aprovechando esto para buscar la clave con los Saraperos, dado a que he podido ver las estadísticas del año pasado y fue el talón de Aquiles durante la temporada pasada".
"Me gusta el béisbol agresivo, ejecutar jugadas ofensivas con el fin de producir carreras desde los primeros episodios, me gusta hacer énfasis en el fundamento de juego y la velocidad en las bases, me podrán preguntar por qué decido dirigir a los Saraperos de Saltillo, pues porque conozco la trayectoria de la organización, la gran afición que hay y quiero como he hecho en otros lugares, trabajar en mancuerna con mi cuerpo técnico para llevar al Sarape a un lugar dentro de la clasificación para la postemporada", platicó el nuevo manager de Saltillo.
En su trayectoria como técnico, destacar que en 2009 fue coach de lanzadores de la selección nacional en el segundo Clásico Mundial de Beisbol en Puerto Rico; en 2010 coach de lanzadores en el Campeonato Panamericano en Puerto Rico; de 2010-2014 fue Director Técnico Nacional de Deportes y Recreación (PANDEPORTES).
Su carrera fue en ascenso pues en 2014 fue Asistente del Manager Roberto Kelly en la Selección Nacional, clasificatorio al Clásico Mundial celebrado en Panamá; Manager de Panamá Metro en el Torneo Nacional de Béisbol 2014; para 2015 fue Manager y coach de lanzadores de los Nacionales de Panamá en PROBEIS (Representando a Panamá en el torneo Latinoamericano que se celebró en Nicaragua en el 2016).
Además Coach de pitcheo y asistente del Manager Carlos Lee en el Clasificatorio al Clásico Mundial de Béisbol celebrado en Panamá en 2016 y finalmente Manager Bicampeón de los Tigres de Chinandega en la campaña 2016-2017 y 2017-2018 de la Liga Profesional de Béisbol de Nicaragua, afiliada a la Confederación del Caribe y a MLB, equipo al que dirigió en la Serie Latinoamericana consiguiendo el gallardete de manera invicta, superando a México en la final.
"Creo mucho en la química con los jugadores y dentro del clubhouse como parte fundamental e integral, la parte psicológica para lograr extraer el máximo de las capacidades de los jugadores, brindarles la confianza tomada de la mano de disciplina y además brindar oportunidades a los jóvenes con potencial y brindar mis conocimientos técnicos adquiridos".
"Vengo de vivir una gran experiencia en la Serie Latinoamericana de Beisbol con Nicaragua y ahora es tiempo de meterme de lleno e incorporarme a la dinámica de la directiva de Saraperos, quienes esperaron pacientes que terminara mi compromiso con Nicaragua tras el histórico Bicampeonato, para mantener este bueno momento que vivo y atraer buenas cosas para Saltillo", destacó el nuevo manager de Saraperos, Lenin Picota.
