Burdick homers and doubles to help Clinton snap 7-game skid

DAVENPORT, IA (August 9, 2019) - Peyton Burdick homered, doubled, and drove home two in a Clinton LumberKings 4-2 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits on Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The LumberKings (27-20, 60-56) win snapped a seven-game losing streak that was their longest of the season.

DAVENPORT, IA (August 9, 2019) - Peyton Burdick homered, doubled, and drove home two in a Clinton LumberKings 4-2 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits on Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The LumberKings (27-20, 60-56) win snapped a seven-game losing streak that was their longest of the season.
Clinton plated their runs with single tallies in the first, third, fourth, and seventh innings.
River Bandits (26-21, 69-44) starter Matt Ruppenthal allowed the game's first run in the top of the first on a pair of back-to-back doubles from Davis Bradshaw and Burdick.
In the top of the third, Burdick added a mammoth home run that went out to left center field and hit off the scoreboard. The blast was his fifth of the year and had an exit velocity of 107 MPH and was estimated to have traveled 434 feet.
Ruppenthal (3-6) allowed his final run of the night in the top of the fourth on a Samuel Castro RBI double down the line in right. For his time out, he was given the loss allowing three runs over a five-inning outing in which he walked four and struck out four.  
Jake Walters started for Clinton and ran his winning streak to four with a five inning performance in which he allowed no runs. Walters (4-3) earned the win for scattering three hits, walking four and striking out six.
Quad Cities scored their runs with single tallies in the sixth and seventh inning before the LumberKings turned the ball over to Zach Wolf in the ninth.
Wolf earned his team leading ninth safe of the year for a one inning outing. He allowed no runs on one walk, no hits, and struck out two.
The LumberKings will continue their road trip with the first game of a three-game set with the Peoria Chiefs starting on Saturday night. Clinton will throw righty Tanner Andrews (5-4, 4.01) while Peoria will tap right Mike Brettell (4-8, 5.54). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. (CDT).
