DUNEDIN, Fla. (August 6, 2017) - Nate Lowe delivered his first High-A homer Sunday but the Dunedin Blue Jays beat the Charlotte Stone Crabs 6-3 in the finale of the season series at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.
In a scoreless game in the bottom of the first, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. doubled to right with two outs. Juan Kelly followed by lining a single into left to score Guerrero and make it 1-0.
Still leading by that margin in the second, Michael De La Cruz doubled down the third base line to start the inning. Two batters later, D.J. Davis reached on a throwing error to move De La Cruz to third. J.C. Cardenas followed by pulling a single to right to make the score 2-0. With runners at the corners and one out, Bo Bichette grounded out to third base to bring in Davis and give Dunedin a 3-0 lead.
Down by three in the top of the third, Charlotte shortstop Peter Maris singled to start the inning. After advancing to second on a groundout, David Olmedo-Barrera lined a base hit to left to score Maris and pull the Stone Crabs to within 3-1. Two batters later, Lowe belted a two-run home run to right center to tie the game at three.
However, Dunedin came right back in the bottom of the inning. After a Guerrero walk and a Kelly infield single, De La Cruz clobbered a three-run home run to right to put the Blue Jays on top 6-3.
Dunedin starter Conor Fisk (7-9) turned in six innings to earn the win, allowing three runs on five hits while fanning three. Alonzo Gonzalez worked two scoreless innings before Jackson McClelland earned the save in a clean ninth.
