Burington, NC - Jackson Lueck's solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning provided the difference as the Burlington Royals (3-15) defeated the Greeneville Reds by a score of 2-1 on Saturday night.

The Royals got a great start from Malcolm Van Buren, who allowed just one run in five innings of work. The one run he gave up was in the fifth, and allowed the Reds to take a 1-0 lead.
Burlington answered in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run of its own. After consecutive two-out singles from Hunter Strong and Jose Marquez, Montae Bradshaw doubled down the left field line, scoring Strong and tying the game at one.
Thanks to outstanding relief work from Yerelmy Garcia, the game remained knotted at one until the bottom of the eighth inning, when Jackson Lueck belted a ball over the right field fence to put the B-Royals ahead 2-1.
Garcia pitched a scoreless ninth and the Royals won their third game of the year.
Game two of the series between Burlington and Greeneville will be tomorrow at Burlington Athletic Stadium. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
The Burlington Royals are the Appalachian League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
