Lugnuts catcher Hissey promoted to Double-A
LANSING, Mich. - Lansing Lugnuts catcher Ryan Hissey has been promoted to Double-A New Hampshire, the Lugnuts announced Tuesday in conjunction with the Toronto Blue Jays.In a corresponding move, catcher Andres Sotillo has been transferred to Lansing from Extended Spring Training.
LANSING, Mich. - Lansing Lugnuts catcher Ryan Hissey has been promoted to Double-A New Hampshire, the Lugnuts announced Tuesday in conjunction with the Toronto Blue Jays.
In a corresponding move, catcher Andres Sotillo has been transferred to Lansing from Extended Spring Training.
Hissey, 23, was batting .246 with two homers, 19 RBIs and a .727 OPS in 18 games with the Lugnuts, swatting the Nuts' first grand slam of the season on April 9th. This is his first trip to Double-A. He becomes the first 2017 Lugnut to reach New Hampshire this season.
Sotillo (pronounced "so-TEE-oh"), 23, is a native of Tucupita, Venezuela. Signed as an international free agent in 2012, he spent last season a level below the Lugnuts with Class Short-Season A Vancouver. This is his debut season in the Midwest League.
