The Jupiter Hammerheads kick off their homestand against the Clearwater Threshers with a shutout win on Tuesday night. The Hammerheads won the contest 6-0 behind a strong pitching performance from Luis Palacios.

With two Miami Marlins in the lineup and starting rehab assignments, starter Luis Palacios stole the show. The lefty pitched eight shutout innings as he earned his third win on the season. The Venezuelan allowed just four hits and struck out a career-high nine batters on Tuesday. The 21-year-old didn’t allow a walk on the night either.

The Hammerheads called on Patrick Murphy to close the door after Palacios. The lefty pitched a hitless ninth inning and struck out two of the three batters he faced. This was just the second appearance in 2022 for the Ohio State product.

The Hammerheads were joined by big-leaguers Joey Wendle and Jon Berti, who were both starting rehab assignments. Berti opened the game with a ground-rule double and would finish 1-3. Wendle finished the evening 1-4 with a run scored before being replaced in the field.

At the plate, Jupiter used a four-run third inning and a two-run eighth inning to collect all six runs. With the bases loaded in the third, Brady Allen would clear the bases and drive in three with an RBI double. The South Carolina alum would score on the next at-bat when Ian Lewis drove him in with an RBI single.

In the eighth inning, Osiris Johnson and Zach Zubia would both come around to score on a double by Cameron Barstad. The game’s starting catcher finished the night 2-4 with the two RBIs.

The Hammerheads and Threshers will play again on Wednesday at 6:30 PM at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Join us for our Silver Sluggers night and Baseball Bingo! Tickets are still available here
