Luis Toribio Earns NWL Player of the Week Honors

Toribio ended the six-game series with 8 hits, 10 RBIs, and 7 runs on a .421 batting average. His four-game home run streak started on July 13th with a solo bomb to go with an RBI double. A day later, Toribio would homer again in a 4-2 Emeralds win. On July 15th, Toribio stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and delivered yet another home run, sending PK Park into a frenzy as the Ems would go on to win 8-1. Toribio would homer one last time on July 16th as the Emeralds won their third in a row, 6-2.
The 21-year-old Toribio was signed to a minor league contract as an international free agent in 2017. The versatile infielder spent the 2021 season with the San Jose Giants before starting 2022 with Eugene. In 70 games with the Ems, Toribio has doubled his home run total from the 2021 season, hitting 14 to go with 41 RBIs on a .217 batting average.
Toribio is currently the 22nd-ranked prospect in the San Francisco Giants farm system and looks to climb even higher as the 2022 season reaches its finale.
