LumberKings drop Bees in season finale

BURLINGTON, IA (September 4, 2017) - The 2017 Clinton LumberKings season came to end Monday afternoon with a 1-0 win over the Burlington Bees at Community Field. The LumberKings (33-36, 64-72) ended the season by taking two of three from the Bees (28-41, 59-79).
The season final was the quickest contest of the year. The game coming to an end in a timely one hour and 47 minutes. The only run of the game came across in the top of the first inning and then settled into a pitcher's duel.
Vinson (9-11) took the loss for the Bees but turned in a strong five-inning outing in which he allowed just the one run on four hits while striking out one and walking none.
The Bees, who outhit the LumberKings 7-6, failed to string hits together off a combination of three LumberKings pitchers. Just once, in the bottom of the eighth inning, did the Bees get more than one man to reach base in the same frame.
The shutout win for the LumberKings was their third against Burlington this season and their fifth of the year.
