PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of May 29th through June 4th.
Altoona Curve outfielder Jordan Luplow has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of May 29th-June 4th. The 23-year old batted .423 (11-for-26) with two doubles, five home runs, eight runs scored, six RBIs, one stolen base, four walks, and a 1.077 slugging percentage in seven games last week. Luplow, who is a native of Visalia, California, had at least one hit in all seven games he played in last week and had multiple hits in four of those games, including going 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs in a 3-2 win at Erie last Monday. The 6'1", 195 lb. slugger led all Eastern League players in slugging percentage (1.077) and OPS (1.577) last week and tied for the league lead in home runs (5), total bases (28), and runs scored (8). He also ranked among the weekly league leaders in extra-base hits (7-tied 2nd), on-base percentage (.500-tied 3rd), hits (11-tied 4th), walks (4-tied 5th), batting average (.523-6th), RBIs (6-tied 8th), and doubles (2-tied 10th). Jordan, who is hitting .294 (52-for-177) with 13 doubles, 13 home runs, 34 runs scored, and 25 RBIs in 51 games for the Curve this season, was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round of the 2014 draft after batting .377 with 48 RBIs and 40 runs scored in 57 games during his junior season at Fresno State.

Drew Anderson, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Reading Fightin Phils, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 29th-June 4th. The 6'3", 185 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the Fightin Phils last week and had a record of 1-0 with 13 strikeouts and a 1.38 ERA. Anderson, who is a native of Reno, Nevada, made his first start of the week last Tuesday against the visiting Portland Sea Dogs and gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits over seven innings while taking a no-decision in Portland's 4-2, 11-inning victory. He struck out eight batters and walked two. Drew made his second start on Sunday at Akron and earned the win for Reading in their 4-3 victory. He gave up one run on three hits while recording five strikeouts and no walks over six innings of work to improve his record to 4-2 on the season and lower his ERA to 4.25. The 23-year old finished ranked among the weekly league leaders in strikeouts (13-2nd), wins (1-tied 3rd), innings pitched (13.0-tied 3rd), WHIP (0.62-4th), and batting average against (.133-6th). Drew, who also won this award earlier this season for the period of May 8th-May 14th, was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 21st round of the 2012 draft out of Galena High School in Reno, Nevada.
