ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (20-16) beat the Las Vegas Aviators (17-20) by a final score of 8-2 on Friday night at Dell Diamond. Round Rock has taken three of the first four games in the six-game series with Las Vegas.

Round Rock reliever LHP Triston Polley (1-0, 0.00) took home the victory thanks to 1.2 shutout innings and just two walks with one strikeout. Las Vegas starter RHP Aaron Brooks (1-6, 4.57) was credited with the loss after allowing three runs with one earned run on seven hits and one walk. He struck out five over his 6.0 innings of work.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • Round Rock opened the scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to an RBI single by 3B Alex De Goti which plated 2B Jax Biggers. DH Andrew Knapp provided a sacrifice fly to double the lead at 2-0.
  • E-Train CF Jose Barrero increased the lead to 3-0 in the sixth after a sacrifice fly to the warning track brought home 1B Blaine Crim.
  • In the top of the seventh, Las Vegas got on the board for two runs to cut the Round Rock lead to 3-2. CF Daz Cameron drove in LF Logan Davidson on a fielder’s choice followed by an RBI single by SS Jacob Wilson, scoring 2B Max Muncy.
  • The Express broke it open in the bottom of the seventh as they plated five runs to make it 8-2. Knapp brought home LF Dustin Harris with an RBI single. Crim drove in SS Jonathan Ornelas and Knapp with another single. RF Sandro Fabian rounded out the scoring in the inning with an RBI double that scored C Sam Huff and Crim as the E-Train rumbled to the victory.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Express starter RHP Gerson Garabito was nearly unhittable over his 4.1 innings of work. He allowed one hit with two walks and seven strikeouts. Garabito’s one hit allowed marked the fewest hits he has allowed in a start since April 8, 2018 when he allowed one hit over 6.0 innings with High-A Wilmington.
  • Three Round Rock hitters recorded multi-RBI games. DH Andrew Knapp went 2-for-3 with two RBI, a walk and a run scored. 1B Blaine Crim went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. RF Sandro Fabian went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.

Next up: Round Rock and Las Vegas will face off in game five of the six-game series on Saturday night. Aviators RHP J.T. Ginn (--) is set to make the start against Express RHP Shaun Anderson (3-0, 2.12). First pitch at Dell Diamond is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. CT.
