Dane Dunning was the starter for Winston-Salem, and the right-hander tossed five innings and allowed just two earned runs on eight hits. Zach Thompson (2-7) collected the win in the Dash's victory as he pitched two scoreless innings and allowed only one hit. Kyle Kubat and Jack Charleston both worked a scoreless frame following Thompson. Charleston picked up his eighth save of the season after a spotless ninth to finish off Myrtle Beach.

In his first at-bat as a Pelican, Machin blasted a home run to left field to lead off the second inning. The shot gave the Birds a 2-0 advantage.
With one out in the top of the third, Luis Basabe doubled to left field before stealing third base. Former Pelican Bryant Flete drove in Basabe on an RBI groundout to make the score 2-1.
The Winston-Salem offense would continue to roll in the fourth as they took their first lead of the game. With one out in the inning, Jimenez and Fisher drew back-to-back walk to put two on base.
