David MacKinnon Earns June Player of the Month Awards

The Rocket City Trash Pandas are proud to announce first baseman David MacKinnon has been named both Double-A South Player of the Month for June and the MAG Aerospace Trash Pandas Player of the Month.
MacKinnon follows Michael Stefanic as Trash Pandas Player of the Month. The Double-A South award is the first monthly honor of his professional career.
Over 21 games in June, MacKinnon led Double-A South in batting average (.377), OPS (1.041), and doubles (eight). He ranked second in on-base percentage (.443) and slugging percentage (.597). He finished third in hits (29) and sixth in total bases (46) and RBI (15). He recorded five straight multi-hit games from June 24-29 and had hitting streaks of both six and seven games in June. He homered in three straight games from June 26-29 after hitting only three home runs over his first 35 appearances.
For the season, MacKinnon is batting .331 with six home runs and 26 RBI. He has recorded at least one hit in 34 of his first 39 games for the Trash Pandas. MacKinnon currently leads Double-A South in batting average, on-base percentage (.415), and OPS (.949). He also ranks among the league leaders in doubles (T-2nd, 12), slugging percentage (2nd, .534), hits (4th, 49), runs (8th, 27), and RBI (T-9th, 26).
MacKinnon has spent his entire five-year professional career with the Los Angeles Angels after being selected in the 32nd round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft. The 2021 season marks his first at the Double-A level.
He will be presented with the MAG Aerospace Trash Pandas Player of the Month Award in a pregame ceremony prior to the 6:35 p.m. game against the Montgomery Biscuits on Wednesday, July 7 at Toyota Field.
