(July 2, 2019) - Former Dash star Nick Madrigal and current Dash outfielder Steele Walker have been named White Sox Minor League co-Players of the Month for June, while Winston-Salem right-hander Kade McClure has been named the White Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Month for June.
Madrigal, who was selected fourth overall by Chicago last year out of Oregon State University, played four games for the Dash last month before getting promoted to Double-A Birmingham on June 6.
In 20 games for the Barons in June, Madrigal posted a .370 batting average and an .896 OPS. The 22-year-old has hit safely in each of his last nine games, and he currently leads Minor League Baseball with a 2.6 percent strikeout rate.
Walker, who was selected in the second round last year out of the University of Oklahoma, posted a .330 batting average, a .379 on-base percentage and a .523 slugging percentage in 22 games in June for the Dash. The 22-year-old recorded a nine-game hitting streak from June 14-26, during which he went 18-for-41 (.439) with three homers, 11 RBIs, five doubles and a triple. Overall, Walker registered a hit in 17 out of his 22 games played last month.

On the mound, McClure has flourished since he was promoted to Winston-Salem on June 1 from Low-A Kannapolis. A sixth-round pick by the White Sox in 2017 out of the University of Louisville, McClure went 1-1 with a 2.12 ERA in five High-A starts last month.
In his debut for Winston-Salem on June 2, McClure allowed just one run in six innings at Fayetteville, beginning a stretch of 20.2 consecutive scoreless frames. In total, four out of McClure's five outings for Winston-Salem have been quality starts.
With Tuesday's announcement, all seven monthly award winners this season have spent time with the Dash.
