Next up in the Marlins' pitching pipeline: Noble Meyer.

The 2023 first-round Draft pick (No. 10 overall) took the mound for the first time with Single-A Jupiter on Saturday in a 5-4 win at Clover Park, and flashed a repertoire that showcased why he was the first prep arm off the board in July. Meyer went three innings against St. Lucie, striking out four and walking none. The right-hander allowed just two hits in his third professional start.

Young pitching development has been integral for the Marlins in recent years. While Meyer, the team's current No. 1 prospect dominated at Single-A, Miami's former No. 1 prospect, Eury Pérez, made history with a 10-K, 0-BB scoreless performance earlier in the day in the big leagues.

Pérez first arrived in The Show this season and is sporting a 2.91 ERA through 14 starts, returning after a stint with Double-A Pensacola. Through three pro starts -- including two in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League -- Meyer has a 2.57 ERA to his name and has struck out 10 in seven innings.

Meyer and his pair of 60-grade offerings -- fastball and slider -- have propelled him to becoming the No. 59 overall prospect in baseball at the start of his career. He's joined by a fellow prep standout, left-hander Thomas White, whom Miami selected with the 35th overall pick in July; together, the pair of 18-year-old 6-foot-5 hurlers make up an exciting crop of pitching at the club's lower Minor League levels.

When combined with the youth of the Marlins' current rotation, along with the eventual returns of Max Meyer (No. 3) and Dax Fulton (No. 11), Meyer offers even more reason to be excited about the future of the club's starting staff.
