FORT WORTH - The Texas League of Professional Baseball Clubs announced its weekly awards Monday, and the Corpus Christi Hooks came away with a sweep.
Outfielder Jason Martin is the circuit's Player of the Week, left-hander Alex Winkelman Pitcher of the Week for the period encompassing July 17-23.

Martin, 21, elevated his batting average from .282 to a team-leading .302. A four-hit night July 17 vs. Frisco in which he doubled twice and homered set the tone; Martin has three long balls over the last five games, four in the last seven, five during the last nine.
For the week, Martin hit .450 (nine-of 20) with three doubles, four home runs, eight runs batted in, five walks, and four strikeouts. His slugging percentage was 1.200. The left-handed hitting Martin was taken by Houston in the eighth round of the 2013 draft from Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, California.
Winkelman, 23, flirted with history last Wednesday vs. the RoughRiders, holding Texas' Double-A affiliate hitless for 8 2/3 innings in a 6-0 victory. In the ninth, Winkelman (1-5) retired Michael De Leon and Scott Heineman on fly balls to the outfield before Andy Ibáñez spoiled his bid for the first individual nine-inning no-hit game in Hooks history. Ibanez slapped a 1-1 pitch up the middle for the lone Frisco hit of the night.
Winkelman threw 106 pitches (71 strikes), walked two and fanned six. Jose Cardona and Luke Tendler drew a base-on-balls in the second and fourth innings, respectively.
Winkelman, selected by the Astros two years ago in the 21st round, played collegiately at Southeast Missouri State.
The Hooks are at Whataburger Field for seven games beginning tonight vs. San Antonio. The Missions are in town through Wednesday, Midland Thursday-Sunday. First pitch nightly is 7:05; the lone exception Sunday (6:05).
