McDermott Strikes Out Ten as Tourists Handle Drive
GREENVILLE- The Asheville Tourists defeated the Greenville Drive 6-3 on Tuesday night despite committing four errors and striking out 18 times offensively. The main reason was Asheville’s starting pitcher Chayce McDermott. The right-hander struck out a career-high 10 and did not allow a hit until the sixth inning.

Asheville took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth when Cristian Gonzalez hit a hanging curveball over the left field wall. In the top of the sixth, Colin Barber belted a three-run Home Run deep over the right-centerfield wall to give the Tourists a 4-0 lead.
Greenville answered with a solo Home Run in the sixth but the Tourists responded with four straight hits to begin the eighth inning. Quincy Hamilton, Michael Sandle, Barber, and Chad Stevens all recorded hits to give Asheville a 6-1 lead.
Cole McDonald pitched the final three frames for the Tourists to pick up his first save of the season. McDonald worked out of a tough jam in the eighth after the Drive scored a pair of runs, then finished things off in the ninth.
The Tourists and the Drive are back in action on Wednesday for Game Two of the series with the first pitch slated for 7:05pm ET.
