Mets, Flying Tigers suspended on Saturday night

LAKELAND, Fla. (June 8, 2019) - Saturday's game between the St. Lucie Mets and Lakeland Flying Tigers at Joker Marchant Stadium was suspended by rain in the third inning.
The Flying Tigers lead 5-2 with the Mets batting with two outs. The game is scheduled to resume on Sunday at 12 p.m. The contest will be played through nine innings.
When the game is over the teams will break for 30 minutes then play a seven-inning game to conclude the series.
Saturday's game was billed as a battle between longtime Major Leaguers
Santana, who was signed by the Mets as a minor league free agent last month, was making his second start for St. Lucie. Zimmermann (elbow) was making a rehab start for Detroit. The pitchers have each made two All Star teams, thrown a no-hitter and combined for 644 MLB appearances.

Santana was roughed up in the bottom of the first. He faced all nine hitters in the Lakeland lineup and was tagged for five runs on five hits.
Both pitchers rebounded to toss a perfect second inning.
Zanon hit a solo home run off of Zimmermann with two outs in the top of the third. It snapped a streak of eight straight batters retired. As Zanon was rounding the bases the grounds crew rushed get the tarp pushed onto the field. The game entered a delay and more bad weather did not permit the game to resume.
The home run for Zanon was his third of the season.
