Today, Minor League Baseball announced that Michael Angel, longtime Head Groundskeeper of the Tri-City Dust Devils, has won the 2024 Head Groundskeeper of the Year Award for the Northwest League. Michael has served in his role with the Dust Devils since 2003, making the upcoming 2025 season his 22nd consecutive year with the club.

Through his constant hard work and tireless efforts, the field at Gesa Stadium has consistently been curated as a playing surface of the highest quality. According to a press release from MiLB, Michael was selected using the results of a survey of Northwest League managers, players, and executives throughout the 2024 season.

Derrel Ebert of the Tri-City Dust Devils commented, “We are very excited that Michael is receiving this award in recognition of his over 20 years of excellent care of our beautiful field. His work ethic and level of care to our field are second to none."

Michael Angel, known for his friendly and humble demeanor, remarked, “I’m thankful for this award. Really, I’m excited to have it happen here, with the Dust Devils.” Anyone who has ever attended a Dust Devils home game knows how integral Michael and his crew are to the game experience, and many fans have enjoyed his friendly interactions in the stands and even his dance moves on the field between innings.
