Tulsa Drillers infielder Michael Busch is currently enjoying one of his hottest stretches of the season, and today he was recognized for his strong play by being named the Double-A Central Player of the Week. Busch is the third Drillers player this season to be honored with a weekly award, joining pitcher Ryan Pepiot and outfielder James Outman.
Busch played in all six games in last week’s series with Springfield and produced multiple hits in four of them. For the week, he hit .542 (13-24) with nine extra-base hits. Busch totaled six doubles, three home runs and 14 runs batted in during the week. He led all Double-A batters in extra-base hits and RBI.
He had two four-hit games during the week and raised his season batting average 19 points, going from .241 up to .260, his highest mark since May 29.
Matt Brash of Arkansas was named the Double-A Central Pitcher of the Week.
