Chavis will check in at Red Sox camp
Last year, Michael Chavis broke out in a big way. This year, he's been rewarded with his first trip to Spring Training.The Red Sox invited their No. 2 prospect along with Chad De La Guerra, Kyle Martin and 13 others to big league camp.

Chavis, who was selected in the first round of the 2014 Draft, notched career highs this season with a .282/.347/.563 slash line, 31 homers and 94 RBIs in 126 games between Class A Advanced Salem and Double-A Portland. The 22-year-old third baseman finished the year in the Arizona Fall League, where he continued to improve at the plate.
De La Guerra is fresh off his best season as well. Boston's 23rd-ranked prospect hit .283 with nine jacks and 48 RBIs in 110 games in the Carolina and Eastern Leagues. De La Guerra has played all over the infield through the first three seasons of his career, but spent most of his 2017 campaign at short.
Martin got his first taste of the Majors last season while going 0-4 with a 4.36 ERA, 50 strikeouts and 26 walks in 53 2/3 innings over 33 games out of the Triple-A Pawtucket bullpen. The No. 25 Red Sox prospect secured one save in five opportunities in the International League. Martin made two big league appearances in July, yielding a run on two hits and two walks with one punchout in 2 1/3 innings with Boston.
