Hickory, NC- The Greenville Drive picked up a pair of wins Thursday night, hanging on to the 5-4 win from Wednesday's suspended contest, before winning the regularly scheduled game 7-6 in extra innings.

Last night’s game was suspended due to weather in the bottom of the 8th with two men aboard for the ‘Dads and Greenville ahead 5-4. As play resumed this evening, Reidis Sena for Greenville would get the last four outs of the game, claiming his first save of the season.

A short time later, the Crawdads and Drive got the regularly scheduled 9 inning game started, with lefty Mitch Bratt getting the start for Hickory.

Bratt tossed 5.2 innings of three-hit baseball, allowing zero earned runs while striking out seven Drive batters, but would not figure in the decision as Bryan Gonzalez' 11th inning homer lifted Greenville to the extra inning win 7-6.

On the fifth Copa night of 2024, the Crawdads, playing as the Llamas de Hickory, took a 4-1 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hold on as Greenville scored six times in their final five times at bat.

For Hickory (14-13, 42-51), Luis Mieses collected three hits and a pair of RBI, including the run-scoring single in the 10th that tied the contest at 5-5. The two RBI for Mieses gives him the team lead at 40 on the year in just 47 games played.

Sebastian Walcott and Jayce Easley walked three times each in the game, as the Llamas loaded the bases in the 11th before Tucker Mitchell grounded into a double play to end the game.

The losses on Thursday for Hickory mark the first losses at home since June 23rd.

For Greenville (16-11, 42-51), Adam Smith claimed his fourth win of the year, while Josh Mollerus saw his record drop to 2-2 for the Llamas.

The Crawdads continue their six-game series with Greenville at 7pm Friday, as D.J. McCarty climbs the hill for Hickory. The Crawdads Pregame Show begins at 6:45pm and will be aired on MiLB.TV, the Bally Live app and hickorycrawdads.com.
