Miller Leads Phils Over Patriots

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots (18-8) fell to the Reading Fightin Phils (5-22) 8-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday night.
Michael Beltre led off the home half of the first inning with a home run (4) to right field.
A three-run homer by Luke Miller (6) briefly gave Reading the lead in the fourth before Aaron Palensky tied up the game in the bottom of the frame with a bases clearing triple.

The Phils grabbed the lead on an Arquimedes Gamboa two-run double and then Miller tacked on three more with a double in the eighth and a two-run single in the ninth. He finished the night 3-for-5 with six RBI.
Luis Gil (L, 1-1) struck out seven in his 4.2 innings pitched. He allowed five earned runs on seven hits to suffer his first loss of the season. Jefrey Valdez, Ron Marinaccio, and Keegan Curtis pitched in relief to add to a total 13 strikeouts on the night.
Austin Ross (W, 2-1) went two innings for the win and Billy Sullivan (S,1) struck out six in his two innings of work for the save.
Somerset and Reading continue the series with a double header on Saturday beginning at 4:00 pm at TD Bank Ballpark.
