Miller returns to form; Everett falls in 11

PASCO, WA: Mike Wilson drove in Mike Peabody with a game winning walk off double in the 11th inning as the Tri-City Dust Devils (8-12) overcame two late inning deficits to defeat the Everett AquaSox (11-9), 4-3.
Mike Salvatore opened up the scoring with a first inning RBI that plated Andy Thomas for the 1-0 lead. Thomas scored again in the third inning on a David Schaeffer hit to extend the lead to 2-0.
The score remained unchanged until the bottom of the eighth inning as both pitching stats continued to match one another with scoreless frames. AquaSox starting pitcher Bryce Miller was outstanding, throwing six scoreless innings, allowing only three hits, no walks and ten strikeouts. Michael Flynn relieved Miller and pitched a hitless seventh inning to keep the Dust Devils off of the board.
Tri-City starting pitcher Ryan Costeiu allowed two runs, six hits, two walks and six strikeouts over five innings. Before giving way to relieve pitchers Jake Smith and Brandon Dufault who each pitched two hitless innings.
The Dust Devils finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning. Mike Wilson led off the inning with a triple into right field. He later scored when AquaSox catcher Thomas' pickoff throw to third base sailed into left field, allowing him to easily jog home. Tri-City tied the game at 2-2 later in the inning on a Gabe Matthews RBI single that scored Jose Guzman.
The score remained tied until the AquaSox moved back into the lead in the top of the tenth inning when Thomas hit a sharp line drive to that bounced off of the glove of Matthews and into right field, allowing Cole Barr to score from second base. The AquaSox 3-2 lead didn't last for long, as D'Shawn Knowles singled home Wilson in the bottom of the tenth inning.
The Dust Devils won the game when Wilson doubled off the base of the left field wall in the 11th inning, scoring Peabody for the deciding run.
AquaSox starting pitchers Prelander Berroa, Logan Rinehart, Jimmy Joyce, Juan Mercedes and Bryce Miller have combined to pitch 26.2 innings over the first five games of the series. They have allowed 12 hits, one earned run, seven walks and 38 strikeouts with an ERA of 0.34.

The final game of the six-game series is scheduled for Sunday July 17. RHP Prelander Berroa (2-2, 2.18 ERA) will start for the AquaSox while LHP Brent Killam (1-0, 3.60 ERA) will make his second Dust Devils appearance of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with the pregame show beginning at 6:45 p.m. Tune in to 1380 AM/95.3 FM KRKO for all of the action.
