Brewers prospect Javier Betancourt was injured after being shot in an argument in his native Venezuela on Friday, according to reports.
He had been playing for Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League, and the Leones confirmed to an MLive reporter that the 22-year-old infielder is being flown to Milwaukee to undergo surgery to treat his wounds.

Betancourt was reportedly shot after an argument with an unknown individual on Friday and sustained injuries to his left elbow.
Signed as an international free agent by the Tigers in 2011, Betancourt was Detroit's 17th-ranked prospect as recently as 2014. He had fallen out of MLB.com's top 30 Tigers prospects list by the time the club dealt him to the Brewers for reliever Francisco Rodriguez on Nov. 18, 2015.
This season the 6-foot, 180-pound second baseman batted .243/.286/.367 with six home runs, three triples, 18 doubles, 22 RBIs and three steals over 107 games with Double-A Biloxi, where he has spent each of the last two seasons.
Betancourt had hit .310 with two doubles and six RBIs in 28 games with Caracas before the incident.
