Barbecues, beach days and baseball. What more is there to Labor Day?

As grills were fired up across the nation and the aroma of hot dogs and burgers filled backyards everywhere, clubs across Minor League Baseball took a moment to acknowledge the day in which employees are honored by taking off from work. In other words, MiLB celebrated Labor Day by laboring, even if it was just on social media accounts.

Here's a sampling of what the day was like for clubs that didn't have to suit up.

There was baseball to be played, though. The Triple-A West took the field (as it does every Monday when all the other circuits except the complex leagues are off) and not only played meaningful games with postseason implications, but also supplied fireworks two months after the Fourth of July's independence celebrations.

Still, some tried to dodge their responsibilities for the day:

Others used the opportunity to shine in front of loved ones:

But one thing is for certain. With 10 Triple-A teams taking the field and putting on their hard hats for nine innings, there was no shortage of entertainment.

There were grand moments:

Moments that brought back our youth:

And a subtle reminder that there are people who have a lot tougher jobs than working in baseball as well:

Fireworks lit up the night sky in Texas to mark the end of the day's slate,

Which points out one last fact. Although the days continue to get shorter, there is still lots of play left to look forward to:
