CURVE, PA – Cal Mitchell matched the franchise record with five hits and Rodolfo Castro hammered a first inning three-run home run to lead the Curve to a 16-5 victory over the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

The Curve jumped out early on the Flying Squirrels pitching staff forcing Richmond to go to the bullpen after nine batters came to the plate in the first inning. The Curve started the game with seven straight hits, including a three-run blast from Castro in his first at-bat back after being optioned from Pittsburgh. Diego Castillo added an RBI single in the first as part of a day in which he reached base five times on three hits and two walks.

Altoona added five more runs in the second inning, another in the third three more in the fourth and three more in the fifth inning to put a season-high 16 runs on the board. Every Curve starter in the game, except for Jack Suwinski managed at least one hit in the game, Matt Fraizer, Oneil Cruz, Castro, Mason Martin, Castillo, Mitchell and Arden Pabst each recorded a multi-hit game as part of a season-high 20 hits for Altoona.

Cal Mitchell recorded a career-high five hits and a season-high five runs batted across his first five at-bats, each of which came before the sixth inning.

Castro added an RBI single in the fifth inning to earn his fourth run batted in on the night. Castro has driven in four runs three different times this season.

Every Curve starter scored a run in the game, led by Cruz who scored four runs in five at-bats; a career-high.

Steven Jennings picked up the victory, his third of the season, with three innings of relief for the Curve. Jennings allowed one run on four hits and struck out two in relief of Jeff Passantino. Passantino allowed four runs in the third inning, allowing six hits in total in his outing. Oddy Nunez dealt three scoreless innings in relief, matching his longest outing of the season.

The Curve will continue their six-game series at Peoples Natural Gas Field with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. LHP Trey McGough (4-3, 3.45) will start for Altoona, with RHP Akeel Morris (4-0, 5.17) slated for Richmond.
