Portland, Maine- Yard Goats infielder Elehuris Montero blasted two homers, but it was not enough as the Sea Dogs defeated Hartford 6-2 on Wednesday evening at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. Montero hit a pair of solo homers, his first multiple homer game of the season, giving the Yard Goats their only runs of the game. Sea Dogs DH Joey Meneses cranked a three-run homer in the first inning off Hartford starter Nick Bush, and Portland never looked back.
Portland’s Joey Meneses started the scoring in the first inning as he belted a three-run homer and ruined the Double-A debut of Yard Goats starter Nick Bush. The Sea Dogs added a run in the second inning on Pedro Castellanos RBI single, scoring Tanner Nishioka who led off with a double, to make it 4-0.
The Yard Goats scored their first run in the fourth inning on Elehuris Montero’s solo home run, his 10th of the season, which made it 4-1. However, the Sea Dogs scored in the bottom half of the inning on Castellanos’ second straight RBI single and it was 5-1.
The Yard Goats continue a six-game road trip against the Portland Sea Dogs on Thursday night (6:00 PM) at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine.
