Mount helps Daytona climb past Lakeland, 4-3

LAKELAND, Fla. - Following up his clutch performance on Monday, LF Drew Mount picked up a pair of hits and runs batted in, as the Daytona Tortugas vanquished the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 4-3, on Wednesday night at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium.

Trailing 1-0 in the second, SS Yonathan Mendoza (1-3, 2 R, BB, 2 SO) reached on a one-out walk. With the runner in motion, Mount (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 SO) uncorked a shot down the right-field line. Mendoza scored all the way from first on the former Kansas State Wildcats' double to tie it up at one.
In the fourth, Mount delivered again. A free pass to 1B Bruce Yari (0-3, R, BB, SO) and a single by Mendoza put men at first and third with one out. Mount then slapped a single back through the middle. Yari scored and Mendoza went to third on the RBI knock, giving Daytona (35-30) the lead, 2-1. 2B Dylan Harris (0-4, RBI, SO) made it a 3-1 affair, as he brought home another tally with a ground out to second.
The Tortugas received some insurance in the seventh. DH Alejo López (3-4, R, SO) reached with a two-out single to keep the frame alive. On a 1-2 pitch, 3B Jonathan India (1-4, 3B, RBI, SO) ripped a ball over first base and into the right-field corner. López scored from first base, as India slid into third with an RBI triple, extending the visitor's advantage to three, 4-1.
Added run support was necessary, as Lakeland's (29-36) offense sprung to life in the bottom of the seventh. RF Dylan Rosa (2-4, R, HR, RBI, SO) began the inning by cracking a deep fly ball off the batter's eye in dead center. The solo shot - his fifth of the season - pulled the Flying Tigers to within two, 4-2. 
With two away, the rally began again. DH Jon Rosoff (1-3, R, BB, SO) and SS Luke Sherley (1-3) collected back-to-back singles, while CF Brock Deatherage (2-4, R, HR, 2 RBI) - who drove in the game's first run with a home run to left in the first - added a run-producing single to left to pull Lakeland within a run, 4-3.
That was as close as they would get, as RHP Julio Pinto (2.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, SO) induced a ground out to second to end the rally. From that point on, Pinto and RHP Ryan Nutof (1.0 IP, 3 SO) combined to retire the last six batters the Flying Tigers sent to the plate to seal the victory.
RHP Austin Orewiler (6.0 IP, 3 H, R, ER, BB, SO) was impressive once again, as the 26-year-old yielded one run in six innings to earn his third win of the season. Lakeland's RHP Garrett Hill (5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO) issued three runs in five frames, suffering his first Florida State League loss. By recording the final three outs, Nutof garnered his league-leading ninth save.
Daytona will attempt to complete the sweep on Thursday, as RHP Mac Sceroler (3-1, 3.89 ERA) is slated to take the mound in the final game of the season's first half. The Flying Tigers are scheduled to counter with North Division All-Star LHP Tarik Skubal (3-4, 3.08 ERA).
