MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Starting pitcher Tyson Miller struck out seven and held the Mudcats to just three hits over seven scoreless innings while leading the Pelicans to a 3-0 blanking of the Mudcats on Wednesday night at TicketReturn.Com Field in Myrtle Beach. The loss ran Carolina's season high losing streak to six straight games.

Cam Roegner started for the Mudcats (11-15) and suffered his first loss of the season despite allowing just two runs on nine hits while pitching through the fifth. Roegner (2-1, 1.35) also walked three, struck out two and left seven men on base over his five inning and 87 pitch outing.
The Pelicans (11-15) totaled nine hits off Roegner and 13 overall, but scored just three runs in the home win. Those three runs would prove to be more than enough though as Carolina was held scoreless while collecting only four hits in the loss.
Miller (3-2, 2.33) started for the Pelicans and picked up his third win of the season after keeping the Carolina offense quiet over his scoreless outing. Miller totaled 94 pitches, with 60 for strikes, while totaling seven strikeouts, one walk and just three hits in his brilliant outing.
Jhonny Pereda drove in the game's first run as he singled in Andruw Monasterio in the third. Monasterio led off the three hit third with a hit and was 3-for-5 in the game for the Pelicans.
Myrtle Beach also scored a run in the fourth after getting a lead-off single from Kevonte Mitchell, a bunt hit from Connor Myers and a run scoring hit from Chris Pieters.
The Pelicans also had three hits in the fourth and had eight hits over the first four innings. Roegner, however, worked his way through several jams and got help from his catcher Max McDowell in the third and fifth innings as McDowell caught a runner attempting to steal in both innings. McDowell leads Minor League Baseball with 17 caught steals (32 attempts) so far this season.
Reliever Miguel Sanchez took over for Roegner in the sixth and struck out four while pitching through two scoreless innings. Nattino Diplan later pitched the eighth and allowed a run on two hits.
The Pelicans led 3-0 after the eighth and went on two win by that same score while winning their second game in the series. The Mudcats did load the bases in the ninth after walking twice and getting an infield from Luis Aviles Jr. Jr., but McDowell would end up striking out looking to end the game.
Romero (S, 2) earned the save and did so while taking over for left-hander Wyatt Short after Short departed with two outs and two on base in the ninth. Short (H, 1) ended up walking two and striking out four through an inning and 2/3.
The loss was Carolina's sixth straight and dropped them to 0-5 in their current six game road trip. It also clinched a series victory for the Pelicans as they took a two games to none lead in the three game series. The series will conclude on Thursday night beginning at 7:05 p.m. in Myrtle Beach.
The game will air on the Mudcats Radio Network, The Big Dawg 98.5 FM and online at carolinamudcats.com via TuneIn Radio. It will also stream via live video on MiLB.tv.
