Carolina (6-5) started the scoring early, bringing a run around just two batters into the game. After Dallas Carroll led off with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch, Keston Hiura lifted a sacrifice fly to bring him in.
But, Winston-Salem (7-4) responded in the bottom of the second.
