Mudcats Washed Away in Rain-Shortened 2-1 Loss to Salem
ZEBULON, NC - Salem's Edgar Corcino and Marcus Wilson both hit solo home runs and starter Kutter Crawford struck out six while pitching into the sixth as the Red Sox defeated the Mudcats 2-1 in a rain-shortened, six inning, game at Five County Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Sox (20-40) victory came in the final game of the four game set, leaving the series tied at 2-2 between the two teams. The Mudcats (35-27) did get one run in the sixth and what ended up being the final inning as heavy rain stopped play. The game would then be called after a :52 minute delay with the Mudcats leaving the tying run at second base.
Crawford worked through five and 2/3 with six strikeouts, a walk and one run allowed on six hits in the series finale victory. He also induced four ground outs versus one fly out while reaching 90 pitches (55 strikes).
Corcino's home run in the second put the Red Sox up 1-0 in the game and Wilson's in the top of the sixth put Salem up 2-0. In all, Corcino went 1-for-3 with a homer, Wilson was 1-for-2 with a walk and a home run and
Feliciano went 1-for-2 with a double and a RBI in the loss for Carolina. His hit in the sixth drove in Andrews who singled to start the frame; Andrews also went 1-for-3 while batting first in the game for the Mudcats. Henry also singled early in the game with his hit in the second extending his hitting streak to seven straight games.
Sunday's getaway day victory for the Red Sox evened the series at two games apiece with Carolina taking the middle two and Salem winning games one and four. Sunday's loss was just the second for the Mudcats in the home stand, however, as Carolina went 5-2 over its seven game and eight day home stand at Five County Stadium.
The Mudcats will next play on Monday night in Frederick when they open up a short three game road trip against the Keys. Carolina will then return to Five County Stadium for the finale home stand of the first half on Thursday versus Winston-Salem.
