KINSTON, N.C. (May 18, 2019) - Thanks to a clutch two-run double from JJ Muno, the Dash pulled out a 3-1 victory over the Down East Wood Ducks on Saturday night at Grainger Stadium.
With the game tied at one in the top of the eighth inning, Carlos Perez stroked a single to left against Wood Ducks reliever Alex Eubanks (3-1). The next batter, Craig Dedelow, bounced a ball right back to Eubanks. On the play, Eubanks threw the ball wide of first base, allowing Perez to scoot to third and Dedelow to second on the error.

Following a flyout from Tate Blackman, Muno laced the go-ahead hit down the right-field line to give Winston-Salem (21-20) a 3-1 edge.
Codi Heuer (2-0) earned the win by tossing two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowing three hits and striking out one. The Wood Ducks (29-14) almost took the lead in the seventh, but, with the bases loaded and two outs, Heuer snared a line drive from Anderson Tejeda to end the threat.
Jose Nin worked a scoreless ninth to earn his fourth save of the year. Nin has now strung together 10 consecutive High-A outings without giving up a run.
Before the late-game heroics from Muno, the Dash plated the contest's first run in the top of the fourth against Down East starter John King. Nick Madrigal, who recorded two hits for a third consecutive contest, blooped a one-out single into left-center. After an errant pickoff attempt allowed him to scoot to second, Madrigal stole third with Steele Walker at the plate. Later in the at-bat, Walker stroked a sacrifice fly to center to put Winston-Salem ahead 1-0.
Left-hander John Parke was strong in his eighth outing of the season for the Dash, logging his third consecutive quality start. The former South Carolina Gamecock went six innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out two. His lone blemish was in the fifth when Yonny Hernandez stroked an RBI single to left.
The Dash wrap up their three-game set against the Down East Wood Ducks on Sunday afternoon at Grainger Stadium. Left-hander Konnor Pilkington (0-1, 13.50 ERA) will take the hill for Winston-Salem against Wood Ducks southpaw Sal Mendez (1-0, 3.00 ERA). First pitch is set for 1 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn Radio App.
Following their seven-game road trip, the Dash will return to BB&T Ballpark for a four-game set with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers from Monday though Thursday. Promotions include a Free Food Monday, with free hot dogs and fries available until 8:30 p.m., and corndogs while supplies last. Tuesday's game will be a Taco Tuesday, with $2 tacos available at the concession stand behind home plate. The series finale will be a Lowes Foods Thirsty Thursday and a Pups in the Park Night presented by Handy and Handy Orthodontics.
