MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (June 26, 2018) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were swept in a doubleheader by the Buies Creek Astros 4-2 and 6-0 Tuesday at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
In the twin bill opener, the game was scoreless into the fourth. Corey Julks and Osvaldo Duarte led off the frame against Myrtle Beach (35-41, 1-5) starter Tyson Miller (6-6) with a single and double, respectively, to put runners on second and third. After a strikeout, Ronnie Dawson was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Cody Bohanek's RBI single gave Buies Creek (41-34, 3-2) first blood before a Pelicans error scored an Astros run to make it 2-0. Jake Adams doubled in two runs to widen the gap to 4-0.

After rehabber Brady Rodgers went three scoreless innings, Buies Creek reliever Brett Adcock (4-3) walked four batters in the bottom of the fourth inning, including D.J. Wilson with the bases loaded, to get Myrtle Beach on the board.
In the fifth inning, Jhonny Pereda walked to lead off. Two batters later, Kevonte Mitchell earned a free pass, and after a fly out, Austin Upshaw doubled in a run to cut the deficit to 4-2. However, Jesus Balaguer worked 2.1 scoreless innings for his first save.
The Astros early in the finale. With two outs and a man on first base, Osvaldo Duarte singled against Birds starter Bryan Hudson (4-7). After a walk, Bryan De La Cruz's two-run single and Myrtle Beach error scored all three runners to make it 3-0.
The score remained that way until the fourth. De La Cruz walked to jumpstart the inning, and two batters later, Carlos Canelon also earned a free pass. A base hit by Jonathan Arauz then loaded the bases. A wild pitch couple with another error plated all three runs to place the tally at 6-0.
Hector Perez (3-2) fired seven shutout innings, striking out eight, for his first career complete game. The loss was Myrtle Beach's 12th in the last 14 games.
Jose Paulino pitched three scoreless innings of relief in the finale.
