WOODBRIDGE, Va. (August 16, 2018) - Michael Cruz smashed a two-run home run to tie the game in the seventh inning Thursday, but Luis García's walk-off single won the contest for the Potomac Nationals 3-2 over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans from Pftizner Stadium.
The score was tied at two in the ninth when David Masters began the frame with a base hit. After Myrtle Beach (54-68, 20-32) reliever Tyler Peyton (3-5) recorded the next two outs, the Birds intentionally walked pinch-hitter Aldrem Corredor. A walk to Bryan Mejia loaded the bases before Garcia's walk-off infield single to the left side won it for Potomac (63-55, 26-25).

The P-Nats took the lead immediately when Mejia hit a leadoff homer in the first. Garcia walked and advanced to third on an Ian Sagdal base hit. A double play grounder then plated Garcia to make it 2-0.
The score remained that way until the seventh. Wladimir Galindo walked against Potomac reliever Kyle Johnston (4-1) with one out. Cruz then popped a two-run shot to right to equal the tally at two.
Erick Leal pitched 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen and Yapson Gomez added three more for the Pelicans.
