SPRINGDALE, AR – The Northwest Arkansas Naturals fell behind early to the Springfield Cardinals and could not come back, dropping the series finale in a sweep by the Springfield Cardinals, 11-4 Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinals knocked Naturals starting pitcher Alec Marsh out of the game in the third inning, tagging the right-hander for seven runs on seven hits over 2.1 innings. Stephen Woods Jr. stopped the bleeding, with 1.2 scoreless innings and Asa Lacy delivered a scoreless fifth inning to keep the deficit manageable.

Lacy walked three in the sixth and all three came around to score, as Jonah Dipoto preceded to throw 2.0 scoreless innings to quiet the game down once again.

Will Klein allowed a run in the eighth but was otherwise dominant over 2.0 innings of work, striking out five with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

First baseman Robbie Glendinning put Northwest Arkansas on the board in the fourth inning, as he connected on his 16th home run of the season on a solo home run to left-center field.

Glendinning plated Maikel Garcia on a two-out Springfield error in the sixth, then John Rave pinch-hit for Garcia in the seventh and connected on an RBI double, adding a second RBI double with two outs in the ninth.

The Naturals hit the road next week and open a six-game series at Wichita against the Wind Surge at Riverfront Stadium.
