ZEBULON, N.C. - Tucker Neuhaus and Ronnie Gideon both homered in the fourth and Joantgel Segovia hit a solo shot in the sixth, but the Dash countered with three home runs of their own while defeating the Mudcats 10-4 on Saturday evening at Five County Stadium.

Micker Adolfo got the Dash (35-27) going early as he clubbed a three-run home run off Mudcats (29-32) starter Victor Diaz in the first inning of Saturday's game. His three-run blast put Winston-Salem up 3-0 and was his seventh homer of the season. It was also the third of three hits in the opening frame for the Carolina League, Southern Division leading Dash.
Diaz (2-4, 4.61) eventually worked through the next four innings without allowing a run and his offense went on to reward him as they pulled within one of the lead with a couple of home runs off Dash starter Dylan Cease.
Cease (8-2, 2.97) had pitched through three no-hit innings before giving up a solo home run to Neuhaus with one-out in the fourth and a solo home run with two outs to Gideon in the same frame. The Mudcats cut the Dash lead to 3-2 after the fourth, but the Dash later came right back with two more runs in the fifth.
They then led 5-2 before getting one more in the sixth while taking a 6-2 lead. Diaz pitched into the fifth and ended up allowing both fifth inning runs while going through four and 2/3 innings. He also walked four and struck out four in his first start of the season.

Neuhaus went 1-for-4 and hit his sixth homer of the season for Carolina in the loss. Gideon hit his seventh home run (a solo shot to center) and was 2-for-4 in the game.
Cease pitched through a total of six innings and ended up allowing three runs on three hits. All three hits were home runs, but he also totaled nine strikeouts while earning the victory.
Reliever Alec Kenilvort followed Diaz and allowed the lone Dash run in the sixth before tossing a scoreless seventh. He later allowed a home run to Yeyson Yrizarri in the eighth and finished his appearance with two runs (one earned) allowed on three this over three and 1/3 innings.
Segovia's homer came in the sixth and was his first with Carolina this season. He went 2-for-4 in the game with his home run cutting the Dash lead to 6-3 before the seventh.
Carolina rallied for one more run in the eighth and were behind by just two before Zach Remillard closed out the game with a three-run home run in the ninth off Braulio Ortiz. The home run was Remillard's second of the series as he also hit a grand slam in game one on Friday night. Ortiz allowed three runs and two hits in the final frame for Carolina.
Reliever Danny Dopico (S, 2) followed Cease and worked through the final three innings while earning the save. He allowed one unearned run, walked two and struck out three while earning his third save of the season.
The loss dropped the Mudcats to 5.5 games back of first in the first half standings and into an 0-2 hole in the three game series against the Dash. It also lowered their first half elimination number to just four.
The series and home stand will conclude on Sunday afternoon with the first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Five County Stadium.
